| About Me |
My desire is to help you grow as a writer and improve your skills. I think writing is ninety percent hard work and ten percent talent. Tameka Fryer Brown said, “Craft trumps talent,” and Natalie Goldberg said, “If you love the work, it will love you back.” I think writing for children requires passion, perseverance, patience and LOTS of practice. It also requires a lot of reading. Let me say that another way; read, read, and then read some more. Read what you want to write. In 2007, I published my first article for children but prior to that I wrote for a regional newspaper in Central Texas. You can see my published work on my website. I write picture books, early readers, nonfiction books and articles, and I’m working on a middle grade novel. I’m the Assistant Regional Advisor with the Austin chapter for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). Let’s get to work! |
